BK? Who the heck is BK?

January 16th, 2007 by Bitch Kittie

Hey ladies! (And brave men who are comfortable with their sexuality),

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Sit a spell. I’m BK, otherwise known in the cycling world as Bitch Kittie. I started a company with Bob Roll about a year ago which makes me his BFF, proofreader, travel agent, psychologist, creative muse, confidant, techie tutor, pep talker and his agent – among other things. The story on how that all got started (right place, right time, right beer) is 100% correct. You can email me for more details, though honestly, that’s pretty much the whole story. Within the last year I have also started some work with Scott Coady of Big Ring Films (Tour Baby!, Cobbles Baby!) and am looking forward to what that brings in this new year. In addition to Scott, I’ve started working with a cyclocross supa star just last week, so business is booming.

Why do I get to do this website? I’m lucky. Tim likes me. I’m cute. I like to ride. Actually, I’m going to say the latter is most likely the real reason. A splendid thanks to Tim for this opportunity.

What are my goals on pinkmtb.com? I’m totally about getting women into cycling and myself back off road. I used to do some killer fun rides about 45 minutes outside the Madison, Wisconsin area where I live. Then I had two kids. Kids are great. They tend to make it more difficult to get out and ride. That’s the hard part. Now that the baby fat is gone and the kids are off to play dates, it’s time for mommy to get back to basics. I am looking forward to covering a lot of the basics. My goal is to rival the book Pink Mountain Bikes for Dummies (Stuff your boyfriend didn’t tell you) because I was that girl. (Note: This book doesn’t really exist) I was the one who had the great man who gave me his Bontrager Race Light, the classic, straight outta Santa Cruz. I got the four digit serial number, totally legit, super cool machine. The more I learn about cycling, the cooler this bike becomes to me. There are SO many stories about what happened to BK from each of her times out on the bike. These are funny. They’re inspiring. They’ll make you laugh. They’ll make you cry. They’re some great antidotes with lovely lessons. I think this will be the bulk of my posts.

I’m also going to get the coveted opportunity to test out some women specific stuff for the tough girls. I will give you a heads up. I like pink. My business cards are fuchsia. I AM one of those girls will buy the pink stuff. Please keep in mind, if you try to get me to use a frame that is “women specific” only because it is pink, I’m going to call your bluff. For the record, neither of my bikes are pink, though I did have a Britney Spears sticker on the Race Light before the black paint job. I’m in the market for some pink flames now for my little pet. ANYWAYS, I like new stuff. I like trying things that are new to the industry. I’m looking forward to riding in a SKIRT. Have you seen these? Awesome hot. Serious. Someone get my hands on one of those! I’m also going to tell you about some stuff I have now that I love. I’ll gripe about some products out there and ask for help in finding just the right one. Shoe gurus, get ready.

We’re all going to be great pals, I just know it. I’m excited for this and I hope you are too. Let’s have a voice, ladies. Let’s make it heard and let’s have a helluva lotta fun doing it!Thanks for checking this out. . . . Peace Out

Bk

Bob and I get a publicity shot for the paparazzi that was waiting during our Full Moon Ride last May. Ok. That’s a lie. My friend Erin took both of these shots

We had a great gang together to hit the trails. It snowed. In May. That’s Wisconsin for you. Pictured here are Fancy Pants Vance, Luis, Leinenkugels in all shapes, sizes and flavas. I’m in this pic too. I’m the one in red.
